PROBLEMS OF SONGEA MUNICIPAL WARD SECONDARY SCHOOLS

                EXCUTIVE SUMMARY.
NIPAA had meetings/Research   with five wards secondary schools and his / her school committee at their  schools such as Mdandamo Secondary School, Subira Secondary School, Zimanimoto Secondary School, Mbulani Secondary School and Luwawas Secondary School October 2011to  gain Some more information about their schools Problems.
I was given warm welcome and they explained the whole situation to me. With a short input by some of the students as well.I Made it clear that I was not involve in the decision making, but just on a fact finding mission

            PROBLEMS BACK GROUND
The schools mentioned   above is the ward Secondary Schools built in Songea municipal by self participatory of the villagers in early 2006, The government of Tanzania had initiated the motive of building secondary school in all wards of the making mud bricks and burning them. The essence behind this motive is that the great numbers of students who passed the standard seven examination in primary school could not proceed with studies due to insufficient of secondary school.
However I its implementation, it has been found that the schools are lacking of text books, science equipments, desks, electricity, Teachers of science departments, classrooms, administration blocks, teachers  houses water library  hostel if plan make them a boarding schools materialize.
These are lead to less concentration in their lessons students as they become not pass to their last examination of form four
I was shown the bricks for construction of laboratory and hostel for Mdandamo secondary school 60,000 and Mbulani Secondary School was 20,000.
My  Impression was that the schools leaders are positive and forward thinking and do a lot from their own resources.
I saw a new classroom in the process of being build, but their needs are great as above started.

METHOD USED   TO IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS
In carrying out the study the following were the techniques which were used to collect data and information For the meetings/research  they included structured questions face to face interviews and observations.

STAPS TAKEN
NIPAA after observation and talks with the schools committee it is under these circumstance we identified the problem and what we are now adoing is to find a solution to that problems.

RECOMMENDATIONS.
Laboratory is a great importance in the secondary education so as enable the school  fully to meet the requirements of ministry of education for ‘o’ level  and ‘A ‘ level science subjects and in giving them the qualifications for university entry and enhanced employment  opportunities.
Hostel is more basic  need but no less important . The students are used to walk daily, covering the maximum distances of 13km from their homes to and back the school. This lead to less concentration in their lessons. Students as they become tired for long walking .

Books are the major factor for education in the world but the education is the source of community development in the world.
